Beyond Wonderland’s ‘Virtual Rave A Thon’ Livestream receives Over 3.5 Million Views

Beyond Wonderland 2019

This past Friday and Saturday night, Headliners from over 100 countries as well as cities throughout the US tuned in to Insomniac Events’ YouTube channel from 8pm to midnight to experience the first-ever Beyond Wonderland Virtual Rave-A-Thon.

The lobby of Insomniac‘s LA headquarters was transformed into a fully themed Wonderland stage—decked out with effects, lighting and lasers—while a small livestream crew captured performances by 4B, Audien, Dr. Fresch, Drezo, Elephante, Jack Beats, JOYRYDE, JSTJR, Kill The Noise, Loud Luxury, Mija, MONXX, Party Favor, SAYMYNAME, Schade, SVDDEN DEATH, and Wax Motif.

“The energy that came from everyone who tuned in from around the world was unlike like anything I’ve ever witnessed in the 25 years of me starting Insomniac,” said Insomniac Founder and CEO Pasquale Rotella.

Fans of all ages, families with their kids and grandparents, friends connecting through FaceTime across the globe, all throwing raves in their bedrooms. There was so much love coming from all different directions. We’re now planning a calendar of Rave-A-Thons that I’ll personally announce very soon.

Reminding the community to “Stay Home, Stay Safe and Stay Positive,” Rotella performed short interviews with each DJ before their sets, reading off comments from Headliners around the world who were sharing photos and videos online that had #VirtualBeyond trending in the Top 3 on Twitter in throughout the weekend.

After the 10th annual Beyond Wonderland SoCal was rescheduled for June 19 and 20 due to the effects of the global pandemic, Rotella took to his Instagram and announced that the company would be creating a “virtual rave” during the original weekend dates so Headliners could still experience festival vibes while staying safe at home.

Just a few days later, the lineup dropped on Beyond Wonderland‘s Instagram. Streaming live on YouTube and broadcast on Twitch and Huya, the Virtual Beyond Rave-A-Thon featured no shortage of memorable moments, including three Headliners who showed up outside of the Insomniac offices dressed in full festival gear and wearing their Beyond Wonderland SoCal wristbands.

House music tastemakers Wax Motif and Dr. Fresch kicked off each night with high-energy performances as text bubbles on the Livestream encouraged fans to put “Sanitized Hands Up!!” Highlights included full feels anthemic performances from Audien and Elephante, an eclectic, nonstop session from Party Favor, as well as bumping house sets from Jack Beats and Drezo that had Rotella getting down on his own personal dancefloor.

JSTJR mixed together a high-energy set that included everything from Alice Deejay‘s “Better Off Alone” to a hardcore drum ‘n’ bass re-lick of Snoop Dogg‘s “Gin and Juice,” while SVDDEN DEATH‘s dubstep onslaught had Insomniac‘s livestream engineers headbanging from the control room.

Former Insomniac Discovery Project winner SAYMYNAME ended Friday with an encore performance featuring his signature hard trap sound, and JOYRYDE closed out night two with never-before-heard material from his forthcoming full-length album before Rotella encouraged him “keep playing to 6am.” At a time when the dance music community needs a little love and unity, the Virtual Beyond Rave-A-Thon delivered an experience that all who took part in it will never forget.

In addition to featuring the sets via link, Insomniac is currently broadcasting classic sets and festival footage from its vast archives, including performances from EDC Las Vegas, EDC Orlando, EDC Mexico, HARD Summer, and the Okeechobee Festival. Dubbed Insomniac REWIND, the programming kicked off Thursday, March 19, and will broadcast 24/7 until Tuesday, March 31.

ASOT launches Livestream initiative to ‘Beat the Silence’ and spread positivity

Now that so many music events and festivals have canceled their shows due to the spread of COVID-19, the world seems unusually and eerily quiet.

It’s a less than ideal situation to be in for everyone involved, and the team behind Armin van Buuren‘s A State Of Trance radio show is looking to counter that with a new, heartening initiative called ‘Beat The Silence‘.

To ‘Beat The Silence‘ caused by the near-global lockdown, the A State Of Trance team has decided to turn its online presence into a Livestream paradise. With reruns of previous A State Of Trance live sets – taken from the massive ASOT events across the world – and new, custom-made video mixes from Trance’s most esteemed artists, they’re looking to supply those at home with the daily dose of Trance music they’d be missing out on otherwise.

ASOT Beat The Silence

300 Partygoers Quarantined at Panamas Tribal Gathering Festival

With everything going on in the Coronavirus world that we live in, Panama’s Tribal Gathering Festival is currently on lockdown. The festival ran from February 29th to March 15th and over 300 festival-goers are now stranded on the island.

Officials have ordered guests to remain at the site until March 23rd in lieu of the Coronavirus outbreak scare. While there have been no reported COVID-19 cases on the festival grounds, the 300 guests are still on required lockdown for appropriate quarantine.

Tribal Gathering Festival is quite unique and attendees learn from indigenous cultures from around the world on the festival grounds. The party advocates climate change and pollution endangerment on a remote beach on Panama’s north coast.

On March 16th, Panama’s president, Laurentino Cortizo, reported “the entry of non-nationals and non-residents of Panama into the country is restricted.”

TO ALL ATTENDEES AND FOLLOWERS OF TRIBAL GATHERING: Update!!!!⭐️⭐️⭐️ The government and health officials have now decided to go back to the original mandate of allowing all nationals who have entered Panama over 14 days ago to exit the location. Those who have not must remain here in quarantine on site until they reach the 14 day period which could mean people actually staying here longer than the 23rd. In the wake of the President of Panama declaring a national emergency due to COVID-19/novel coronavirus, Panama’s Minister of Health has taken the extraordinary step of ordering all Tribal Gathering guests currently on site to remain in place until March 23. However, this was NOT in response to a positive COVID-19 test. There have been ZERO cases of COVID-19 confirmed on site, nor are any suspected at this time. Nevertheless, we are complying with all orders and recommendations of the Minister of Health, as the health and safety of our guests and crew remains our top priority. We also continue to work with the embassies of our guests from outside Panama to secure their assistance and support. Please contact the embassy of your family member’s home country for further information. @usembpan @who @bbcnews @vice @viceenespanol @un_ocha @who send help! @cnn @cnnee @nytimes @forbes @nationalpost @navara.media @cbsnews

Guantanamo Bae drops his new track ‘Harambe Dreamin’

Guantanamo Bae

Guantanamo Bae (née Zachary McClanahan) is poised to take electronic dance music to exciting new spaces and places and invites you along for the ride.

Proving that talent can emerge from the unlikeliest places, the De Soto, Missouri native moved to New York and spent years developing his adventurous style and sound. Sporting a name that slyly nods to his previous service in the U.S. military, he now devotes himself fully to the pursuit of the perfect beat.

Once he began releasing his work to the world, he found himself being embraced by fans, musical peers, tastemakers, and labels alike, to the tune of a current record deal with Germany’s Swutch Music Group on their imprint, Run Free.

When it comes to a jam from Guantanamo Bae, or GB for short, one can expect a healthy dose of energy and infectious creativity. His single “Harambe Dreamin‘” is a prime example, with an approach and topic that are all it’s own. Named after the newsworthy 2016 shooting of a gorilla named Harambe, and the iconic rock song “California Dreamin‘”, the song stands as an ode to Harambe and the incident, all set to a dynamic grooves, spirited vocals, and a cranking tempo, making for an audio experience like none other. Erick Morillo delivers ‘Subliminal Miami 2020’ compilation

Erick Morillo has kicked off 2020 with ‘Subliminal Miami 2020’, the latest installment of the house music legend’s lauded compilation series, out March 20th via Subliminal Records.

Comprised of 15 unreleased tracks from Erick‘s friends and contemporaries, ‘Subliminal Miami 2020‘ is a celebration of cutting-edge house music, stitched together with that sunkissed Miami flair. It comes in the form of an hour-long mix, with Erick expertly spinning the tracks.

Highlights include ‘Everything‘, the seductive house cut from Armand Pena and vocalist Caitlin Rose, ‘ABC‘, the trance-infused floater from Nick Lampos, and Cato Anaya & Les Castizos’s ‘Sabrosura’, Carlos Anaya & Victor Perez‘s Latin-tinged floor filler. Elsewhere, the likes of James Organ (‘Tribute‘), Dum K (‘The Hum‘) and Allan Nunez (‘Yaya‘) all feature on this expertly crafted mix.

Completing the mix are tracks from Mark Neo Marvin (‘Over Rhythm‘), Ioan (‘Corre Morenita‘), Aney F (‘Inseparable‘), Mata Jones and Domenico Scavone (‘Back To Wet‘), Veltron and Wolf Jay (‘Everytime‘), Bohemien and Raf Parola ft. Timi Tamminen (‘Silver Coin‘), Emvfaraya and Unseen ft. Høier (‘The One‘), Antho Decks (‘Tikuna‘) and JollyJ (‘Eyyah‘).

“So excited to have mixed this compilation consisting of 15 of the hottest tracks coming out on Subliminal exclusively for Miami Music Week,” Erick enthuses. “Very happy with the continuous mix and I cannot wait to get the feedback from DJs on all of the amazing tracks on this compilation.”

Releasing his first record back in 1992 on the iconic Strictly Rhythm imprint, Morillo is now into the 28th year of his illustrious music career and remains as consistent in his output as ever. Enhancing his reputation with his weekly ‘Sessions‘ parties in New York, it wasn’t long before the platinum-selling artist was throwing some of the biggest parties in dance music, including the annual Subliminal Sessions at the Miami Winter Music Conference and his now-legendary Pacha Ibiza residency. Meanwhile, his longstanding ‘Erick Morillo Presents Subliminal Sessions‘ radio show is currently broadcast in 54 different countries.

Kicking off the new decade in the same way he finished the last, it’s clear that Erick Morillo won’t be taking his foot off the gas anytime soon.

GusGus release ‘Remixes Are More Flexible’ Pt. 2

GusGus

GusGus return hot off November’s part one release with a highly-anticipated second installment follow-up album, Remixes Are More Flexible Pt. 2., featuring an original lead single ‘Out Of Place’, released earlier this month. Remixes Are More Flexible is out now across all digital and physical platforms.

Four months after the first installment of their two-part remix EP series, Icelandic duo GusGus is back with ‘Remixes Are More Flexible Pt. 2′, a re-imagining of their tenth studio album, 2018’s Lies Are More Flexible.

Remixes from the release include a wide range of artists from a re-work by none other than GusGus member Biggi Veira himself, Jam El Mar (Jam & Spoon), MINDSKAP, and a remix from Raxon that’s been a huge hit in the DJ circuit during the past year.

The second iteration of Remixes Are More Flexible boasts several imaginative re-works from some of techno and house music’s finest tastemakers. GusGus opens with their lead single ‘Out Of Place‘, an energetic romp full of ambient synths and subdued vocals that tweaks the track it’s based on, ‘No Manual‘, in a concerted effort to entrance the listener with every beat. Barcelona-based Raxon follows this up with his adrenaline-pumping take on ‘Lifetime‘, which serves as a relentlessly intense exploration of the thematic elements present in the original, essentially stripping it of its jovial tone in place of a more underground vibe.

GusGus Remixes Are More Flexible

Raxon‘s remix has particularly received a considerable amount of traction on the road as well, raising the attention and bolstering the support of several major well-known artists. The Portuguese DJ and producer MINDSKAP‘s remix of ‘Don’t Know How to Love‘ shifts the direction of the album to an even darker place, upping the anté in terms of scope and transforming the original track into a techno-laden behemoth.

The cerebral ephemerality GusGus is so well-known for musically is showcased effortlessly in their original track ‘Unfolder‘, which maintains the hard-hitting four-on-the-floor essence the album begins with. GusGus‘ very own Biggi Veira takes the reins next with his soothingly repetitive re-work ‘Don’t Know How To Remix‘, a track that stands out without detracting too much from its source material, a true testament to the creative bandwidth ever-so present in each member of the band.

Jam El Mar continues the album with his rendition of ‘Lifetime‘, a significant departure from the funky undertones provided by Raxon earlier in the tracklist. Jam El Mar, of Jam & Spoon, cultivates a slow funky rhythmic Balearic house beat from the ground-up, carrying it throughout the song as he adds simplistic techno soundscapes that add to the overall perfected ambiance of the track.

The lead single off this second part remix album, GusGus‘ ‘Out Of Place‘, was released earlier this month. The duo’s highly-praised trademark sound can be heard throughout, even in the many remixes from the superb roster of talent they’ve meticulously collated for this release. This second installment in their remix EP series delivers in all the necessary areas, and serves as a great complement to November’s Remixes are Are More Flexible Pt. 1.

Not ever pinned to one specific kind of style, GusGus‘ eclectic musicality and sought-after expertise are reflective of their unique ability to transcend the seemingly rigid boundaries of genre. Hailing from Iceland in the mid-1990s, the innovative collective’s momentum has been on the rise since their inception, making them a force of nature to be reckoned with.
