‘I Don’t Wanna Wait’, the smash hit by EDM-pop pioneer David Guetta and Grammy-nominated band OneRepublic, gets a new ‘Piano version’ and a ‘Band version,’ out now.
While the acoustic version of ‘I Don’t Wanna Wait’ released in June strips the dance-pop track down to frontman Ryan Tedder’s vocals, intimate acoustic guitar and cello strings, the heartwarming new ‘Piano version’ distils the track further, pulling on the heartstrings with simple but effective, glistening keys.
OneRepublic’s dynamic new ‘Band version’ features all six members and shifts away from the original dance elements, veering faintly into country music territory.
‘I Don’t Wanna Wait’, originally released in April, has swiftly become one of Guetta and OneRepublic’s biggest hits respectively. Within two months, the track amassed 330 million streams worldwide and 28 million in the UK, reaching #33 on Spotify’s Global Chart.
It also topped European airplay charts and Dance Radio in the US, and secured a spot in the Top 10 of Belgium’s Official Charts. The original’s music video, shot during Guetta’s headline set at Ultra Music Festival in front of 60,000 fans in Miami, now boasts over 30M views.
David Guetta and OneRepublic are a match made in heaven and together are riding the wave of ‘I Don’t Wanna Wait’, which is surely one of the biggest dance-pop tracks of the past decade. Exploring every angle of this emotive, party-starting track, these two new acoustic versions show how the track can be translated for any audience and occasion.
