Last month, Roskilde Festival revealed the first bunch of music acts for next year’s festival, which takes place from 29 June – 6 July 2024, featuring Foo Fighters, PJ Harvey, Kali Uchis, and many more. Now, the non-profit giant adds another 23 acts to its festival line-up, including Norwegian pop sensation Aurora, Chicago’s visionary folk singer-songwriter Kara Jackson, and the ever-evolving art pop icon Róisín Murphy.
The announcement also features the groundbreaking American DJ and producer Skrillex, who will gear up for an epic night rave at the festival’s pivotal and iconic Orange Stage. Skrillex exploded onto the EDM stage a decade ago as a leading force of a new generation of ravers and electronic music fans, and his first-ever visit to Roskilde Festival comes on top of an illustrious 2023.
The eightfold Grammy Award winner has spent much of the year on the road, both solo and together with Fred again.. and Four Tet, selling out Madison Square Garden in three minutes and closing down Coachella on the way. He also found the time to release two solo albums less than two days apart.
“Skrillex has single-handedly cut through a lot of barriers and is bringing together people across generations, nations, and musical inclinations. Everything we’ve seen and heard from Skrillex in 2023—and that sums up to quite a lot—serves as euphoric and undisputable proof of his musical ambitions and innovative technical wizardry. We’re excited for this to unfold at Roskilde Festival”, says Anders Wahrén, Roskilde Festival‘s Program Director.
Like Skrillex, many of the acts in this announcement has received enormous praise in recent time. 2023 has gifted us with critically acclaimed albums from artists such as Bar Italia, Eartheater, Overmono, Yaeji, US singer-songwriter Rhiannon Giddens, and Noname.
Roskilde Festival also zooms in on rising, influential voices from across the globe, from Mali’s Kadar Tarhanine to the Swedish soulful folk group Dina Ögon, from the Honduran reggaeton and pop talent Isabella Lovestory to Vietnam’s hypnotizing eco-rave quintet Rắn Cạp Đuôi.
“These artists illuminate unseen perspectives, and we embrace our role in fortifying the societal significance of art. At Roskilde Festival, we’re not just booking amazing music; we actively support emerging artists and make the festival available for new artistic encounters, formats, and experiments”, says Anders Wahrén.
