Returning to the Mana Wynwood Convention Center on Friday, October 20, and Saturday, October 21, Miami’s III Points Festival will celebrate its success in putting counterculture music on the South Florida map over the last 10 years. III Points has become a staple in Miami’s cultural landscape, now seen as a landmark event for the region’s music community each year. This year’s festival promises to be a celebration of all that III Points has built over the past decade and a glimpse into what the future holds.
Kicking off its silver-anniversary year, III Points has announced its lineup that embodies the festival’s continued commitment to showcasing diverse and groundbreaking musicians. Today’s announcement is led by headliners who represent opposite ends of the musical spectrum such as rising star Fred Again.., the “Godfather of Punk” Iggy Pop, and generational producer Skrillex who will continue his hot streak of acclaimed performances in 2023. Equally essential artist Grimes brings her conceptual Elf.Tech ARt rAIve to Miami and South African superstar Black Coffee prepares to deliver a classic set of his own.
The remaining lineup contains a further array of boundary-pushing artists and tastemakers from across the globe. Hip-hop legends Bone Thugs-N-Harmony come alongside Caribou, Jeff Mills, Âme B2B Dixon, TSHA, Gorgon City, SBTRKT, and many more thrilling names. Fans can additionally expect a B2B from John Summit and Green Velvet alongside an exhilarating set from Australian producer Dom Dolla (who just released a smash single with Nelly Furtado).
Additional sets include Hot Creations label boss/Paradise curator Jamie Jones; experimental pop vocalist and critical darling Caroline Polachek; Berlin collective Keinemusik; psych-rockers Unknown Mortal Orchestra; and many more. Lane 8, whose advocacy around mental health and wellness aligns with III Points‘ mission to create a safe and inclusive space for all attendees, will also take to one of the festival’s nine stages in 2023. Additionally, The Martinez Brothers and Richie Hawtin will present two specially curated stage lineups. The Bronx, NY brothers will take over the Isotropic stage and the techno minimalist will helm the S3QUENCE stage.
III Points will also serve as the home for the acclaimed Despacio party and sound system created by LCD Soundsystem‘s James Murphy and Soulwax‘s David Dewaele and Stephen Dewaele. The club concept is best known for its vinyl-only music standard and minimalist visuals that create a visceral experience. With its 50,000-watt sound system playing all weekend at III Points, expect more unforgettable dance-floor moments from some of music’s most acclaimed masterminds.
Further along the lineup, post-rock legends Explosions in the Sky are slated to perform their seminal album, The Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place; electronic trendsetters Hudson Mohawke and Tiga prepare for a buzzing B2B set; and later comes Alice Glass, Aluna, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, Mau P, Joy Orbison, ¿Téo?, Daphni, and Daniel Avery B2B Danny Daze. There are also buzzing names like The Dare, Jubilee, Jockstrap, Nia Archives, and many more must-see acts in the reveal.
Speaking about the growth of III Points and the challenges of staying ahead of the curve, III Points Co-Founder David Sinopoli says “Being ahead of the curve hasn’t been easy and has required taking risks. We set out on a mission 10 years ago to build something different in Miami that the counterculture here can identify with. This initiative is flourishing because of all the artists and fans that have supported this idea over the past 10 years.”
