Belgian techno titan Charlotte de Witte and her label KNTXT are reflecting on what has been their biggest and most successful year yet.
In terms of releases, Charlotte de Witte dropped two acclaimed EPs on KNTXT, ‘Universal Consciousness‘ and ‘Apollo‘. Further highlights included records from Amazingblaze, Alignment and Indira Paganotto. Meanwhile, RPM oversaw a release from Acid Asian. A turbo-charged, digital-only sub-label of KNTXT that builds velocity around emerging talent and sounds, RPM was launched to meet the demand of the ever-evolving electronic music scene.
On the gig front, Charlotte de Witte was at the helm of multiple sold-out KNTXT events all over the world. Some of the key events were at Printworks London, 516 S Anderson Street in Los Angeles, Brooklyn Mirage in New York City, Arca in São Paulo, Mandarine Park in Buenos Aires and stage takeovers at Tomorrowland and Ziggo Dome in collaboration with Awakenings.
Perhaps most significant of all was the fact, the revered artist renewed her status as highest ranked techno DJ in the world via the coveted DJ Mag ‘Top 100’ poll, and became the first techno (and female) DJ to close the main stage at Tomorrowland. She also teamed up with fashion brand Filling Pieces to create an exclusive collection, designed jointly by Charlotte and Filling Pieces founder Guillaume Philibert, which was launched at the brand’s flagship store in Amsterdam during ADE. A typically invigorating week, ADE also featured a nine-hour party at Ziggo Dome in collaboration with Awakenings.
Looking ahead, 2023 promises to be even bigger, including a huge KNTXT Konnected show at Flanders Expo in her native Belgium on 4th February. “I’m super excited to take KNTXT back to Ghent again for another massive night at the iconic Flanders Expo,” she previously explained. “We, the KNTXT family, will prepare something unique for you this night! Something you’ve never seen before. This will be massive!”
To celebrate what has been a landmark year, Charlotte has launched the 3Y Collector Box, an exclusive vinyl box set celebrating the third anniversary of her boutique label KNTXT. The box set includes 5 limited edition vinyls released in the label’s third year, featuring music from Charlotte de Witte, Amazingblaze, Alignment, and Indira Paganotto and also includes an exclusive limited edition 3Y box t-shirt. The box set was custom designed for the anniversary by designer Adriaan Tas and is based upon the initial KNTXT branding with a high-end approach to the label’s aesthetic. The 3Y Collector Box is for purchase HERE.
Charlotte de Witte has become known for her dark, stripped-back brand of techno, acid and anything high energy. She’s often crossing borders but maintains a deep form of respect for the underground. Highlight performances across the continents – including being the first techno (and female) DJ to headline the main stage at Tomorrowland – Mixmag and DJ Mag covers, high-ranking positions in the charts and lists confirm her status as nouveaux techno royalty.
The world’s #1 techno act, Charlotte de Witte is an uncompromising force of nature who is determined to make 2023 even better than this year.
