In line with today’s release of her anticipated sophomore album Black Girl Magic, Honey Dijon delivers the official music video for one of the album tracks ‘It’s Quiet Now’ featuring Dope Earth Alien.
Directed by LA-based vocalist, songwriter and visual artist Cor.ece and featuring Clare Richè and Brandon Lucas as the leading roles, this striking video continues to demonstrate Honey’s impact as a multi-disciplinary artist across the Black Girl Magic project.
With the intention of demonstrating the experiences of trans women, Honey and Cor.ece’s vision explores the intimate and emotional moments of the protagonist’s life, including the challenges she faces in her relationship. Wanting to create a captivating story, Cor.ece describes the project:
“What was most important for me about directing ‘It’s Quiet Now’ was making sure I told a story that was not only revealing and raw but also empowering for the protagonist at the centre. We get to witness peace that is earned–and fought for. I don’t think we can see enough depictions of real self-love…
‘It’s Quiet Now’ is already one of those special tracks that is not only seductive for the dancefloor, but it tells a story. Honey and I wanted to bring this story to life. In three minutes, we get a full arc from pain to romance to true liberation.”
Coming in line with the release of Honey’s new album, across 15 tracks of attitude, energy, heart, and community, Honey demonstrates a broad range of disciplines and influences on Black Girl Magic. Enlisting A-List collaborators such as Channel Tres, EVE, Pabllo Vittar, Josh Caffe, Mike Dunn, and more for an unmissable, boundary-pushing LP, Honey continues to elevate what it means to be an electronic artist in 2022 with this striking album.
