With nightclubs and music festivals shut for now due to the Coronavirus outbreak, DJs worldwide are setting up their consoles against interesting backdrops, as they livestream their sets and experiment with new sounds.
In a collaboration with Berlin party Dessert, music marketplace Beatport will do an exceptional livestream this Thursday from the iconic TV tower in Berlin with superstar artists such as Monolink live, Tom Peters and Kevin De Vries B2B Innellea, all set to perform just for your listening pleasure during these challenging times.
Dessert is the event concept of DJ and producer Tom Peters (aka Black Peters), a regular fixture at Berlin’s ://about blank before clubbing took a break. Peters now brings Dessert into the digital realm, in collaboration with Beatport, at what is perhaps Berlin’s most iconic location.
Here’s what Peters had to say about the choice of venue:
“I was always in love with the TV tower when driving into Berlin with my parents and then later on coming back to the city from gigs and seeing the tower made me feel at home”.
Standing in the city centre, Alexanderplatz, and a visible landmark from all around, the Fernsehturm is the German capital’s tallest building at 368m. The visitor platform, 207 meters up, will host the Beatport x Dessert stream on July 9 at 7pm CET.
It will be one of the first times the venue has hosted a live stream, and the very first time that drone video footage has been allowed.
The musical curation combines melodic house and techno with indie dance. Monolink, of Embassy One Records, will perform a one-hour live set of his electronic, emotional and rhythmically-stirring songs. Kevin de Vries and Innellea play a special back-to-back DJ set to highlight their upcoming EP on Afterlife (which is due for a 2 week exclusive on Beatport in August).
Tom Peters, who started Dessert at ://about blank 2012, is also known for stand-out releases on Kompakt, Afterlife and Oddity, as well as working as a curator for Beatport. He will open proceedings with his signature, atmospheric style of melodic techno. This special event brings together a potent line up of underground talent for a panoramic
showcase of their respective styles.
Taken well and truly out of the underground, 207 meters to be precise, these four artists have a unique platform to create something memorable, set against the backdrop of the Berlin skyline.
