This year marked the 9th annual Escape: Psycho Circus, Insomniac’s premier Halloween event. The 2019 edition saw upgrades and additions at almost every corner as 135,000 screaming headliners took over NOS Events Center in Southern California. The wild and wicked sold out circus was bigger and better than ever.
On October 25 and 26, attendees were blessed by Insomniac‘s stellar production of yet another successful year of Escape: Psycho Circus. Lets start from the top, this years saw the debut of four completely new stages: The Grimm, Psycho Circus, Sanitarium, and the Sewer District.
Also brand new festival areas were added like was inferno Avenue, the Boulevard of Broken Bones, the Haunted Hay Road, and Crazy town.
Rumor has is that back when the Wonderland Asylum shut down, the patients were set free. The patients would set up shop in a little place called ‘Crazy Town’ that featured a sadistic fountain that supplied fresh blood for new arrivals. There was also a butcher that had meat swaying back and forth, the Poison Ivy cocktail bar, The Well, a silent disco on cemetery grounds and a magnificent Fire Cathedral. Crazy Town was the place to be.
Escape has been tabbed as the world’s largest Halloween dance music festival, and it didn’t disappoint. Attendees were transported into a wicked wonderland with spooky costumed performers, circus attractions, and over 70 dance music DJ’s spread over four brand new stage designs.
New to Escape this year was the main stage mega structure known as The Grimm, which was largest ever built in Insomniac history. The stage design showcased over 325 video panels, 550 lights and over 30 lasers. The Grimm saw performances from superstar DJs and producers such as Deadmau5 who made his Escape debut, Dillion Francis, Alesso, and RL Grime.
The other massive structure was the Psycho Circus stage which was hosted by Bassrush Massive with talent like Bear Grillz, Borgore, Chris Lake, and Excision. The Sanitarium was hosted by both Basscon and Audiotistic and saw hardstyle legends like Headhunterz, Sub Zero Project and DJ Anime hit the stage Friday.
Saturday saw Valentino Khan, San Holo, Metro Boomin/surprise guest A$AP Rocky, and Boombox Cartel. To round everything out was Factory 93‘s Sewer District debut that blasted underground vibes all weekend long. Dubfire b3b Nicole Moudaber b3b Paco Osuna blessed attendees with a magnificent three hour set.
Insomniac is already allowing attendees to lock in their 2020 Escape tickets. This has to mean that they’re preparing for another insane sold out weekend. Lock in those tickets now, and just sit back and wait to see what Escape: Psycho Circus 2020 has in store. See you there!
