There were two clear losers in the whole Fyre Festival disaster. Rapper Ja Rule was one of them.
What the Netflix and Hulu documentaries did, was not only bring an incredibly large amount of bad press, but it sort of in a weird way put Ja Rule on the map again. We all kind of forgot about him and now look, everyone is talking about him.
Recently the rapper was booked to play the halftime show at a Milwaukee Bucks game. During his performance, live videos began to go viral that are both hilarious and cringeworthy.
The Bucks hired Ja Rule for their big 90s night but in one of the videos he points out that he’s a 2000’s rapper. “They said this was Nineties night, so they brought out a 2000s artist,” he told the crowd at the Fiserv Forum. “But my album came out in ’99, so I guess that counts.”
To top it off, Bucks players started their warm-up shots during the performance.
The difficulty around Ja Rule’s performance sparked jokes on social media — led by the Timberwolves. The team’s account, using a quote from the rapper about the pair of popular Fyre Festival documentaries that were recently released, wrote: “We too were hustled, scammed, bamboozled, hood winked, lead astray.”
