While it may have come from TMZ, many other news sources are also reporting that indeed, Swedish DJ and producer, Avicii committed suicide earlier this year.
His family talked about the struggles he faced while on tour and in a documentary titled, “Avicii: True Stories”, he described the strain that touring had on him. They reported that it was done with glass from a broken bottle during his time in Muscat, Oman “that caused massive bleeding”.
Aside from the numerous health issues that Avicii faced, it was the mental stress and pressure that got to him. It is sad to see someone so young and so talented leave so soon.
Avicii‘s family released a statement that included the clear message it was suicide … “He really struggled with thoughts about Meaning, Life, Happiness. He could not go on any longer. He wanted to find peace.”
His death has raised many concerns in the industry with the stress that artists face while touring. Our only hope is that we will learn and make sure that the health of DJs comes first.
