Promotion partner LiveStyle recently confirmed that a return of offshoot Stateside festival TomorrowWorld and Brazilian Tomorrowland are a “work in progress,” meanwhile rumors are spreading that Tomorrowland could be also expanding to Thailand !
According to ‘Bangkok Post‘, Founder and Group Chief Executive of Index Creative Village Plc, Kriengkrai Kanjanapokin, expects to be a joint organizer if Tomorrowland in Thailand takes place. He claims that he spoke to the festival’s founders about their interest, stating Thailand’s popularity with tourists.
“Thailand is considered one of the highest-potential countries in Asia for world music events,” said Mr Kriengkrai. “We highly anticipate that the event will be held in Thailand in its 2019 or 2020 edition.”
If this installment of Tomorrowland festival does happen, Mr Kanjakapokin also revealed it would take place in Sattahip, an area apt to hold well over 100,000 festival-goers, necessary for a music festival of Tomorrowland’s stature.
A representative for Tomorrowland explains that the rumors aren’t entirely unfounded, but there are no specific plans to take the festival to Thailand just yet.
“We keep looking for interesting opportunities abroad, but it takes time and a lot of research, as building Tomorrowland is like moving a small city of 60,000 citizens.” says spokesperson Debby Wilmsen.
This comes after Tomorrowland’s management denied claims of expanding to Thailand last year.
