Last year, the California-based DJ and producer, Skrillex, hinted that his collaborative project Jack U, may be approaching to an end. “Just did our last Jack Ü festivals of 2016…and for a long long time,” he wrote in a tweet that was later deleted. “Thank you for all the people who came out to support us.”
We’ve been wondering what’s up with the group for a while, and today Diplo finally explained why the two-headed monster best known as Jack U is over for now. During a Q&A Session in Sydney he was asked, if we’d hear more from him and Skrillex as Jack U, to which Diplo replied:
“Hopefully,” he answered. “Right now I’m just doing a lot of new Major Lazer stuff and Diplo stuff. The thing with Jack Ü is complicated, because of Atlantic. Skrillex is signed to that label and it’s difficult to do anything with that. I hate major labels, so I don’t really want to do anything with major labels. So it’s hard.”
So, yes, it’s less likely that we will hear something new from Jack U soon, but on the other hand Diplo is saying there’s a chance. We’ll see what will happen.
