The Australian star Harley Edward Streten, better known as Flume, has dominated at the 30th edition of ARIA awards by taking home 8 trophies including Album of the Year for his sophomore output “Skin”.
Flume was also the winner of multiple awards such as Best Dance Release, Best Independent Release, Best Male Artist, Best Pop Release for “Never Be Like You”, Producer of the Year, Best Cover Art and Engineer of the Year.
During his acceptance speech for the Best Dance Release award, Flume took the liberty to give his opinion concerning Sydney’s controversial lockout laws.
“I want to say a big thank you to … the small venues and the small parties that are doing what they’re doing, because that’s where music evolves, that’s where all the exciting stuff happens, and that’s what’s getting shut down right now. To our policy-makers and our politicians, please keep Sydney open so that the young artists of the next generation can have the same opportunities that I had.”
