Police arrested 77 people at the Defqon.1 hard dance music festival at western Sydney on Saturday night as part of a special operation.
There were 77 drug detections. It comes almost a year after 26-year-old man died after he was found unconscious in a festival tent on September 21, 2015.
Festival goers were targeted for drug and alcohol offenses as well as “anti-social” behavior. 6 people were charged with supplying a prohibited drug and more than 200 people received medical attention for heat or drug-related illnesses. 6 of those 200 were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Police also conducted 630 random breath tests and charged eight people with drink driving. Another 44 people returned positive results for driving under the influence of drugs.
Defqon.1 is an annual hardstyle music festival that has been held in Netherlands, Australia and Chile since 2003.
