Armed police officers have reportedly raided nightclub Amnesia in Ibiza, with the club’s owner Martin Ferrer arrested, in an operation that is said to be investigating organised crime. Police sniffer dogs were also reportedly involved in the ongoing operation, described by respected national newspaper El Mundo as an anti-drugs operation, along with tax inspectors.
The Spanish Guardia Civil entered the club early this morning, four people have been arrested and held at the venue, including club’s owner Martin Ferrer. There is an order of secrecy surrounding the arrests and investigation, meaning that police and officials can’t make a comment on the proceedings.
A spokesman for the Guardia Civil in Majorca confirmed, “There is an operation in progress but the court secrecy order means we won’t be making a detailed official comment today or sending out a press release.”
